CII – Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre (CII – GBC) was established in the year 2004, as CII’s Developmental Institute on Green Practices & Businesses, aimed at offering world class advisory services on conservation of natural resources. The Green Business Centre was inaugurated by His Excellency Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the then President of India on 14 July 2004.
Fostering green practices and businesses through its services in energy management, green buildings, green companies, renewable energy, green product certification, waste management, and cleaner production processes, the Green Business Centre facilitate India’s emergence as a global leader in green business by 2025.

The Green Business Centre in Hyderabad is housed in one of the greenest buildings in the world and through Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) is spearheading the Green Building movement in the country. With a vision to facilitate India's emergence as one of the global leaders in green businesses, by demonstrating that green makes business sense, CII – IGBC has registered 11.76 Billion Sq Ft* of green building space, making India second in the world.
The Centre has also registered 13,720+ green building projects, certified 8,200+ GreenPro products, conducted 2,100+ energy audits across the globe, registered 1,150+ manufacturing facilities under GreenCo, and has over 30 cleantech startup cohort members.*
