What is CII?
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is a non-government,
not-for-profit, industry led and industry-managed organisation.
Founded over 100 years ago, it is India's apex industry
association with a direct membership of over 4150 companies
from the private as well as public sectors and indirect
membership of a large number of sectoral organisations.
CII represents over 80% of India's organised industry,
with 30 offices in India, 9 abroad and working relationships
with 191 counterpart organisations in 92 countries.
CII serves as a reference point for the Indian industry
and the International business community.
What is EMC?
CII plays a catalyst role for improving the efficiency
and
competitiveness of the Indian industry, through specialized
services.
One such professional service offered by CII is Energy Conservation
& Management.
The Energy Management Cell (EMC) of CII was set up in 1991
and offers
a wide spectrum of services promoting energy efficiency.
The range of services offered is:
- Detailed energy audits in all types of industries
- In-house and centre-wise intensive training programs
on energy
management
- Organising Encon Missions - visit to select energy
efficient units
- Technical Seminars and Workshops on energy
conservation & management
- Detailed feasibility studies on cogeneration
- Detailed feasibility studies on latest energy saving
& environment
friendly technologies
- Publications related to energy efficiency and energy
conservation

CII-EMC conducts detailed energy audits in all sectors
of the Indian industry, namely, Cement, Sugar, Paper, Chemical,
Petrochemical, Engineering, Automobile, Textile, Foundry,
Food Processing etc. The cell has conducted over 320 detailed
energy audits till date. Based on the suggestions of CII,
these audited units have achieved an annual recurring savings
of Rs.720 million till date.
The CII - EMC has been selected as winner of the
National "Best Energy Auditor Award" instituted
by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA),
Government of India, for the Fourth Successive Year (2000-01)
