ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Energy conservation practices have acquired top priority, in the present context of increasing energy prices, acute energy shortage and the ever-widening demand supply gap.
A multi-pronged approach is advocated for achieving energy conservation. This approach comprises of pursuing/ adopting the following three-pronged approach

1 Capacity utilisation
2 Fine tuning
3 Technology upgradation

Capacity utilization involves optimally utilizing the available resources. This is a least cost option.

Fine-tuning is incorporating small changes in the existing system to get major gains in energy efficiency. These fine tuning methods normally do not involve high investments.

With the advent of new technologies, Technology upgradation can result in mega savings in energy. Though this involves higher investments to be made, they can prove to be highly beneficial in the long run.

Capacity utilization and fine tuning can result in energy savings to the extent of 5 - 15 % while technology upgradation could yield up to
30 - 40 %.

Several successful energy efficient companies have adopted the three pronged approach and reaped rich benefits.

The Indian industry and individual beneficiary units can utilise the energy efficiency aspects covered in this website, by fine-tuning to their individual needs and achieve energy efficiency.
